How You Can Help
There are many different ways that we can help the water wasting problem, and a lot of it starts within our homes. Here are some ways that we can help
- Take shorter showers, a lot of water is used during showers, especially very long ones. So by taking shorter showers we can reduce the amount of water used.
- Turning off the faucet while brushing our teeth, and also washing your face.
- Don't wait for the water to warm up before taking a shower.
- Don't take baths, and if you do take a bath don't fill up the bathtub until it is full. Fill it up about a quarter of the way or maybe half, but that is about it.
- If you happen to was your dishes by hand, don't leave the water running to rinse off your dishes. And if you can, don't rinse them at all, just let the soap come off.
- Don't buy or use bottled water, tap water is tested more regularly so it can actually be healthier for you, plus it taste better than bottled water. Just make sure that you turn off the faucet when you don't need it.
- Don't water your lawn, or at least not very often. Grass doesn't need a lot of water, so the amount of water that comes when it rains is normally enough to sustain life for grass for a week or two. But otherwise don't water your grass every week.
- One thing that all of us can do is collect the rain water when it rains. It can be used for irrigation for all of your plants at your house or apartment even. Rain water can even be used to drink, it just has to be put through a filtering system.
